A: This year's Sunshine State Scholars isMay 2-3, 2024, at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando.
Q: What is the dress code?
A: The dress code is business casual or nicer. Please review the dress code prior to packing.
Q: Who attends?
A: 111 Scholars representing Florida school district and their families.
Q: Does a scholar have to attend the entire event?
A: Yes. The event's activities require each scholar to attend the entire event.
Q: Can a scholar attend by him/herself?
A: No. A scholar must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian.
Q: What expenses are covered?
A: The Florida Department of Education will pay for one sleeping room per scholar for two nights and self-parking for those two nights. Expenses such as additional nights/rooms, valet parking, non-event meals are the responsibility of the scholar, family, or guest.
Q: Where do the scholars go when they first arrive?
A: When you arrive at the hotel, please park, check into the hotel and then proceed to the registration desk in the convention center building. Your room key will let you in and out of the parking lot.
